Patrick Frey
Lecturer
Patrick Frey holds a master’s degree in mathematics from Purdue University, where he is currently a Ph.D. student in the area of mathematics education. His research interest is on the written and oral communication of mathematical thought and expression, the use of technology to achieve such communication at the individual level, and the connection between this type of communication and student achievement. Frey intends for his research to provide other educators with evidence of the benefit of individual-student-to-instructor communications (necessarily occurring beyond the classroom, albeit, asynchronously), along with some tools and techniques for achieving this type of communication (without an excessive increase in instructor workload). The research is aimed primarily at college students at or about the level of pre-calculus.
